Welcome to Loose Talk at Loose Reins Glamping!

Hi, I’m Immy Deutrom and this is my first Blog for Loose Talk at Loose Reins Glamping. As the new owners and residents of Loose Reins, Dylan and I are very proud and excited to welcome all our guests, new and old, to join us in our new venture. I plan to keep everyone up to date with all our activities and developments as we settle in, so watch this space! For my first ever attempt at a blog I thought I’d answer the questions we are being asked at the minute, so here goes…

Who are you?

Dylan and I are both horse riders, particularly dressage specialists. Having met in the dressage world we set up our equestrian business in Hampshire in 2023 before getting married in June 2024.

I grew up in rural Hampshire and rode competitively from a young age. I spent several years working in sales for a house building company where I travelled across the world for them. Now I focus on training and exercising some of our horses and managing our equestrian business and the glamping cabins from the office in the barn. I spend most early mornings with our horses but am back in the office mid-morning. You’ll see me around the site most days making sure everything is perfect for our guests.

Dylan grew up in Berkshire and is a competitive dressage rider, riding at top levels nationally and internationally. He’s heavily involved in training and developing horses for their future competitive careers. You’ll still see Dylan around the site when he’s not riding as he loves nothing better than being out and about keeping things looking their best.

Generally, when you see me, I’ll be accompanied by my best-friend, advisor and general supervisor Auggy the miniature Dachshund. I really should introduce him further down the page in our animal section but he’d object to that. You’ll usually see him following us around and running behind the buggy because he refuses to ride in it!

What lead you to buy Loose Reins?

In 2025 we decided that the time had come to put down roots and find ourselves a permanent base. We chose the Dorset/west Hampshire area because we love the beautiful countryside. We were looking for an equestrian yard but once we saw Loose Reins we fell completely in love. Nothing else we saw, and believe me we looked at a lot of places, even came close. The whole area, the stunning location, the peace and tranquillity as well as the facilities were just incredible. We knew it would be the perfect place to base ourselves and our horses to give them the best of everything and us a beautiful home to relax and unwind at the end of a busy day. And finally … after a very long wait, in June 2026 Loose Reins became ours.

What about the Glamping?

The Glamping cabins and pods were a fabulous added bonus. Located within this beautiful site and designed with such amazing attention to detail, we knew they’d fit perfectly into our world and we would fit seamlessly into theirs.

As you can imagine, as horsey kids and now as professional horse people, Dylan and I have spent many, many nights living in our various horse boxes at locations around the UK and Europe while at competitions. It goes without saying that we know and love the outdoor life. Sitting with our friends and family round the barbecue, dinner under the stars, far from the pressures of life in the towns and cities is our ideal. However, neither of us particularly relish “roughing it”. Sleeping on hard ground is a definite no-no; a proper shower is a necessity and we both absolutely must have good coffee on standby!

Glamping is therefore our style, add in a wood-fired hot tub and we consider it perfection. We love that we get to share that with you.

Which horses do you have?

We have around 20 horses in our care, although most are currently stabled elsewhere. They will gradually be moved over as we develop and refresh the stabling, field fencing and riding areas during the Autumn and Winter. However, if you look at the top field just past the last safari tent you will spot my retired dressage horse, Muller, and his field companion, Ace who are living their best lives in well-deserved comfort and peace. The rest of the fields are currently cut for hay to be used over the winter.

What about the other animals we have around the place?

We have a very small menagerie comprising 3 sheep, 2 goats and several hens all to be found in various fields and pens around the area. Some of you may already be familiar with the ever-popular Rupert the sheep, who is still happily in residence, alongside the ever-entertaining goats, Butch and Sundance.

Do you still do horse riding/trekking?

No, sadly we can’t provide horse riding.

Can we bring our horses?

It is possible to bring your own horses, and this is something we’re hoping to develop more in the future. If you would like to talk to us about bringing your horse on your holiday, give me a call on 01258 446246 or email me at [email protected] and we’ll see what we can arrange.

What are your plans for the future?

Our first plan is to get the site generally spruced up and, once the season permits, to get the hedging tidied up so that it is looking back to its very beautiful best. If you’re here over the summer and early autumn, you’ll see the changes taking place.

Then it’s on to refreshing and upgrading the equestrian facilities so we have stabling and riding facilities suitable for our horses and safe field fencing so we can bring them home to enjoy their turnout in our beautiful fields.
